Stevi is a bubbly and friendly Special Music Coordinator and Children’s Church teacher. She wishes to see people’s hearts prepared and encouraged for the sermon through music, and she loves showing children how they can grow in Christ even at a young age.
Favorite Scripture Passage: Ephesians 4:32
Born Again: 2006
Family: Steve (father); Kelly (mother); Jake, Asa, Titus (brothers)
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32)
Stevi and her family have been members of TBC since the fall of the year 2000, when Stevi was a month old. Growing up in the church, being taught how to sing specials, and helping in children’s church aided her services in music and organizing children’s church. She loves hymns with stories and/or deeper meanings behind them, leaving the audience with a lesson in their hearts in the form of a song (“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16). Stevi also loves to teach and play with kids! Her broad and colorful imagination helps her understand how children think and how to get their attention during lessons (“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6).
In the winter of 2006 after a Wednesday service, the Caviness family came home in the night. Stevi, who was six years old at the time, pulled her father, Steve, aside and told him of her need to be saved. Steve and Stevi, along with her little brother, Asa, knelt at the fireplace of the house, and the two siblings accepted the gift of salvation.
Stevi completed a one year Bible program at West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, California, from the fall of 2019 to the spring of 2020.
Ever since she was very young, Stevi has had a passion for art. While attending West Coast Baptist College, she used that passion to illustrate a children’s book for her Aunt Karen, titled Oh How Silly It Would Be. Stevi wishes to illustrate and write her own books one day.
Steve and Kelly Caviness raised their four crazy children with adventure in mind. They made sure to homeschool them until 2009, when they attended Tabernacle Baptist Academy until the graduations of Jake, Stevi, and Asa. (Titus is 14, so he has a little while until he graduates as well!) Steve and Kelly love spending time with them, whether that be at the dinner table or jumping off cliffs into the water at Lake Whitney. Steve taught them that every adventure is a lesson to be learned in how life can throw unexpected times on the narrow path, but that God can turn the uncertainty into an unforgettable adventure!
