Melissa Shipman
Sunday School-Elementary

Melissa loves to teach children in a way that is fun! She loves to be animated and include singing and activities that make the children want to engage. She strives to teach in a way that helps them to understand they are never too young to serve the Lord and to always do right!

Favorite Scripture Passage: Romans 5:3-4
Born Again: Age 9
Family: Ronnie (husband); Luke and Logan (sons); Anna and Katie (daughters)

“And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also; knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope.” (Romans 5:3-4)

Melissa has been a member of TBC since 2002. She has been teaching Sunday School for many years and enjoys making it meaningful, practical, and fun! Through the years, Melissa has actively served in the music ministry, the Missions Committee, Finance Committee, Nursery rotation, and helping with the teens, which she especially loves!

Melissa was saved at the age of 9 as a result of a wonderful bus ministry. Raised in an area of Pennsylvania where there were very few Baptist churches, Melissa feels so grateful for the dedication and commitment of the bus workers of First Baptist Church. What stands out most to her is even though the bus workers were turned away Saturday after Saturday – they never gave up. (How often we never go back for a second visit!) They finally convinced her parents to allow her and her older sister to go to church on the bus. When Melissa’s older sister got saved and wanted to get baptized, this caught the interest of her parents. Melissa’s parents would soon be saved and completely changed by God’s amazing grace!!

Ronnie and Melissa are so grateful that their oldest son and his family serve at TBC as well. Their other son is serving in another church. Their two teenaged daughters are part of the truly wonderful teen department at TBC – where the “peer pressure” is to do right! They are not perfect, of course, but our teens encourage each other in their walk with the Lord and it is a true joy to see this among teens!
